Prof. Jackson Perrin's Master Class:

Jackson Perrin is an artist and educator who currently coordinates the Voice Line for Texas State University’s BFA Musical Theater program. After earning his degree in Musical Theater from Texas State, he obtained both certification and master certification in OneVoice and has taught privately for over ten years. He co-founded Presence, a Brooklyn-based musician collective that provides a weekly improvised live music session for emerging artists throughout Brooklyn, emphasizing community building and intentional creativity.

Ensemble Fest: Mozart Meets BroadwayMonday, April 21 at 7:00pm
Palmetto Theatre • Free AdmissionThe NVC Chamber Singers will present a staged concert featuring beloved musical numbers from Broadway's Best Ensemble. Dr. Lee is excited to announce a new platform for NVC Music alumni. We are also proud to welcome back NVC Music alumna Serena Hernandez, who will participate in the Alumni Connect: NVC Music Showcase Project in Spring 2025. The event will include six weeks of intensive Musical Theatre Workshops in February and March, where NVC singers will collaborate with directing ensembles. The Chamber Singers are looking forward to creating showcase ensembles from Broadway’s hilarious new hit, Something Rotten!, as well as selections from La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen, and The Greatest Showman, alongside opera duets from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro.
Experience the enchantment of Another Day of Sun from the Oscar-winning film La La Land and the uplifting anthem You Will Be Found from Dear Evan Hansen, which has touched hearts around the world. Prepare to be dazzled by the cherished ensemble numbers Welcome to the Renaissance and We See the Light from Something Rotten!, a musical that has claimed an impressive 10 Tony Award nominations. To pre-celebrate the journey from screen to stage in 2025, you won’t want to miss performances of From Now On from The Greatest Showman.

Their journey begins with the poignant message, “In every heart, there is a place that shows us who we are,” which resonates with deep emotion and strength. Prepare to be moved by Elaine Hagenberg’s stunning a cappella, My Companion, inspired by the beautiful poetry of Edith Franklin Wyatt. This work beautifully celebrates the joy of companionship as we journey through life. Craig Hella Johnson’s masterful arrangement of I Love You/What a Wonderful World creates a seamless flow that highlights the beauty of connection, making these songs feel like they have always belonged together. Dr. Lee is thrilled to announce the launch of an exciting platform for NVC Music alumni. This initiative goes beyond mere performances; it’s a dynamic space for alumni to share their invaluable experiences and connect with current students. By offering guidance and insights about their careers and academic journeys, alumni can inspire and motivate the next generation. This presents an incredible opportunity for our current students to learn directly from those who have walked the path before them. We are also proud to welcome back NVC Music alumna Serena Hernandez, who will participate in the Alumni Connect: NVC Music Showcase Project in Spring 2025. The event will feature 6 weeks of intensive Musical Theatre Workshop in February and March, with NVC singers and directing ensembles performing during the Music Festival Week and Alumni Talk Series & Performance on April 28th, 2025.
Serena's recent stage credits include Pilar and Music Director for Legally Blonde, as well as ensemble roles in Grease and Chicago with the Circle Arts Theatre and Fort Sam Houston Theatre, respectively. Serena's versatility in performance is a testament to her adaptability and range, making her a valuable asset in any artistic endeavor. Serena Hernandez's journey from Northwest Vista College to the University of the Incarnate Word, where she earned her B.A. in Vocal Performance, is a testament to the value of a strong foundation in music education. Her time at UIW was marked by her portrayal of significant roles, such as The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors and Angelina in Trial by Jury, inspiring us all with her achievements.

The 3rd Musical Theatre Contest is here, featuring stellar performances by outstanding singers who will share the stage to perform famous musical theatre solos and ensembles. Dr. Minkyung Lee is excited to host the NVC honors recital for selected students because they have gone above and beyond in their studies for this special recital showcase. This group of soloists and ensemble singers will feature the most thrilling, ever-popular musical theatre repertoires. Audiences will participate in choosing their favorite singers for the Audience Choice Awards. The winner’s announcement and an encore performance will be presented at the Concert Choir Outdoor Performance on Wednesday, May 7th.
